British Standard Pipe Parallel (External)
The external parallel BSP thread most often seen on hydraulic adapters and instrumentation ports. It never seals on the thread; a captive bonded washer under the hex does the sealing once the joint is torqued to a face.

A 55° included flank angle with a rounded crest and root -- the single fastest way to tell a Whitworth-derived (BSP) thread from the other family by eye.
Cut straight: the pitch diameter is constant along the full thread length, with no taper.
